Matt Johnson - Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern:
Last year I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Matt Johnson when we were co-coaches of a sixth grade YMCA basketball team last year. He has many talents, is mature beyond his years, and above all, is a man of character.
We ended up with a team of boys that presented several challenges, but Matt was up to the task. One of our players was autistic and Matt provided compassion when called for, but established boundaries when needed. He was firm and able to discipline a boy who had a tendency to bully some of the other boys. He was also an excellent teacher of the game during practices. In all these endeavors he demonstrated patience rarely found in this “instant” generation.
One of the other things I enjoyed about working with Matt was his creativity and sense of humor. He could stay focused on what we were trying to do (which isn’t easy with sixth graders) but keep things light at the same time by joking with the boys or giving them a bad time without being critical. In an effort to show the boys we were serious about this team, he came up with the idea to dress up and wear ties for the last regular season game. The boys got a good chuckle out of it and then responded and played well.
I wish Matt well in whatever field of study he is pursuing. He is a fine young man and will definitely be an asset to you.
Sincerely,
Bob Prosper
